The Temple of Solomon in Jerusalem.

Solomon, the man of Divine Shalom

Generation after generation there are people that are always remembered for their deeds, for their good actions and for their fame, but nobody as been as famous has King Solomon. He is the most famous man of the Middle East since the birth of the Oriental beautiful history, a time when man use to travel miles and days in order to find out, if all the things that people were telling about him, were true.

Solomon was the most famous King of the kings of the the East, and area ot the world that have made people from the West dream and write thousand of books that have inspired milion of man and women. between all these woman, on e very rich woman is know to our day; she is the Queen od Sheba. She had heard abot Solomon wisdom and peaceful ways (Solomon comes from the hebrew word Shalom, peace), and she travel miles to go and see for herself if what the all world was telling about this man in Israel, was true.

Jerusalem was the most magnificent capital of the near East, and Solomon had the most wanted and dreamed position in the world; the Divine Seat of the Holiest City of God, Jerusalem, the City of Peace. Solomon was the King of Jerusalem and His Kingdom was extend to Libanon, the northen part of Syria, Jordan and most of all His Kingdom was UNITED, ONE peacefull Jewish State. Solomon builded God's Jewish Temple in Jerusalem and he had hope that everyone, even people coming from far and strangers, could had their sincere prayer listen to by the Almighty God of the Universe.

Solomon had seen in His time in power in Jerusalem, the City of God, 40 years of peace and joy; The jewish Temple was know for splendor and beuty, all made with the best trees of Lebanon, with gold and the best materials and porfumes from the Near East. Everyone that visited Israel could tell that there was not such of beauty in the all Middle East, like the one seen in Jerusalem. And most of all, Solomon, the King of Jerusalem; there wasn't another man so handsome and so wise in the all Middle East.

There are so many books and documents written in English all over the world, and paintings all over the walls of Europe about King Solomon, the King of the Jews and the King of Jerusalem, and about the Jewish Temple of God in Jerusalem. Nobody can deny that, no other man in the story of mankind is today as famous and well known, as King Solomon. And his connection to Israel and Judaism. Solomon wrote the most beautyfull prayer to God that any man have ever known; we can read it in the Torah and in the Bibble.

Solomon made an alliance with Pharaoh king of Egypt and married his daughter. He brought her to the City of David until he finished building his palace and the Temple of the Lord, and the wall around Jerusalem.

Solomon was an owsome man and marry the daughter of Egypt, with witch he was in peace; all nations around were in peace with Israel, becouse God was with Solomon and nobody would dare to even think about been at war with the most powerfull Jewish man of the Middle East. Many women dreamed of been his wife and in fact Solomon was aware of what God had made Him; the most wanted bachelor of the world.

God gave Solomon wisdom and very great insight, and a breadth of understanding as measureless as the sand on the seashore. Solomon’s wisdom was greater than the wisdom of all the people of the East, and greater than all the wisdom of Egypt. He was wiser than anyone else, including Ethan the Ezrahite—wiser than Heman, Kalkol and Darda, the sons of Mahol. And his fame spread to all the surrounding nations. 1 Kings 3

When Hiram king of Tyre heard that Solomon had been anointed King to succeed his father David, he sent his envoys to Solomon, because he had always been on friendly terms with David.  Solomon sent back this message to Hiram:

“You know that because of the wars waged against my father David from all sides, he could not build a temple for the Name of the Lord his God until the Lord put his enemies under his feet.  But now the Lord my God has given me rest on every side, and there is no adversary or disaster.
I intend, therefore, to build a Temple for the Name of the Lord my God, as the Lord told my father David, when he said, ‘Your son whom I will put on the throne in your place will build the temple for my Name.1 Kings 3

The Kings of the Nations around Israel, the King of Lebanon, recorded  the Holy Scripture of the Torah, knew David, the "King of Israel his Father" and for this reason, "His Son too" was know to the world. For this reason the writings concerning all the things that Solomon did,are writen in the book known as the Book of Kings. No other man in History is recorder for having build a Temple to God, but Solomon.

Solomon Builds the Temple of God in Jerusalem
In the four hundred and eightieth year after the Israelites came out of Egypt, in the fourth year of Solomon’s reign over Israel, in the month of Ziv, the second month, he began to build the Temple of the Lord.
The Temple that King Solomon built for the Lord was sixty cubits long, twenty wide and thirty high. The portico at the front of the main hall of the Temple extended the width of the Temple, that is twenty cubits, and projected ten cubits from the front of the Temple.  He made narrow windows high up in the Temple walls.
Against the walls of the main hall and inner sanctuary he built a structure around the building, in which there were side rooms.  The lowest floor was five cubits wide, the middle floor six cubits and the third floor seven. He made offset ledges around the outside of the Temple so that nothing would be inserted into the Temple walls.

So Solomon built the Temple and completed it. He lined its interior walls with cedar boards, paneling them from the floor of the temple to the ceiling, and covered the floor of the temple with planks of juniper.  He partitioned off twenty cubits at the rear of the temple with cedar boards from floor to ceiling to form within the temple an inner sanctuary, the Most Holy Place. The main hall in front of this room was forty cubits long. The inside of the temple was cedar, carved with gourds and open flowers. Everything was cedar; no stone was to be seen.

He prepared the inner sanctuary within the temple to set the ark of the covenant of the Lord there. The inner sanctuary was twenty cubits long, twenty wide and twenty high. He overlaid the inside with pure gold, and he also overlaid the altar of cedar.

Solomon covered the inside of the Temple with pure gold, and he extended gold chains across the front of the inner sanctuary, which was overlaid with gold. So he overlaid the whole interior with gold. He also overlaid with gold the altar that belonged to the inner sanctuary.

For the inner sanctuary he made a pair of cherubim out of olive wood, each ten cubits high.  One wing of the first cherub was five cubits long, and the other wing five cubits—ten cubits from wing tip to wing tip.  The second cherub also measured ten cubits, for the two cherubim were identical in size and shape.  The height of each cherub was ten cubits.
He placed the cherubim inside the innermost room of the Temple, with their wings spread out.
The wing of one cherub touched one wall, while the wing of the other touched the other wall, and their wings touched each other in the middle of the room. He overlaid the cherubim with gold.

On the walls all around the temple, in both the inner and outer rooms, he carved cherubim, palm trees and open flowers.  He also covered the floors of both the inner and outer rooms of the temple with gold

It's recorded that the Jewish Temple of Jerusale was of pure gold and for this reason Jerusalem took the name of Jerusalem of Gold. The Gold is a symbol of God and Majesty, of Kingship. if we are to rebuild the Temple of Solomon today, it would look like one othe the wonders of the world, Magnificent! Since the building of the Temple the Jewish people have kept until today two symbols; the olive tree and the Golden menorah of the Temple of Solomon, as symbols of the Jewish Nation of Israel.

The foundation of the Temple of the Lord was laid in the fourth year, in the month of Ziv.  In the eleventh year in the month of Bul, the eighth month, the Temple was finished in all its details according to its specifications. He had spent seven years building it. 1 Kings 6

When Solomon finished the Temple, nothing was so magnificent not only in the Middle East, but in the Near East and in the al world; God had decided to rest and dwell only in Jerusalem. For this reason Jerusale is called the Holy City, the City of God. Solomon is therefore know to be the one that builded a Temple of God in Jerusalem. This is what Jerusalem looked like in Solomon times.

So Huram finished all the work he had undertaken for King Solomon in the Temple of the Lord:

the two pillars; the two bowl-shaped capitals on top of the pillars;
the two sets of network decorating the two bowl-shaped capitals on top of the pillars;
the four hundred pomegranates for the two sets of network
(two rows of pomegranates for each network decorating the bowl-shaped capitals on top of the pillars);  the ten stands with their ten basins; the Sea and the twelve bulls under it; the pots, shovels and sprinkling bowls.

All these objects that Huram made for King Solomon for the temple of theLord were of burnished bronze.  The king had them cast in clay molds in the plain of the Jordan between Sukkoth and Zarethan.  Solomon left all these things unweighed, because there were so many; the weight of the bronzewas not determined. Solomon also made all the furnishings that were in the Lord’s Temple:

the golden altar; the golden table on which was the bread of the Presence;  the lampstands of pure gol(five on the right and five on the left, in front of the inner sanctuary); the gold floral work and lamps and tongs;  the pure gold basins, wick trimmers, sprinkling bowls, dishes and censers; and the gold sockets for the doors of the innermost room, the Most Holy Place, and also for the doors of the main hall of the Temple.

When all the work King Solomon had done for the Temple of the Lord was finished, he brought in the things his father David had dedicated—the silver and gold and the furnishings—and he placed them in the treasuries of the Lord’s Temple.

Then Solomon said, “The Lord has said that he would dwell in a dark cloud; I have indeed built a magnificent Temple for you, a place for you to dwell forever"1 Kings 7

When Jesus arrived in Jerusalem, the Bible recorded that He use to spend a lot of time in the porch of Solomon, under the beautifull and magnificent colomns of Solomon with his His followers. Also Jesus teached in the Temple and in one occasion, when he saw people using the Temple compound for other activities that were not prayer, kicked the people out in a moment of anger against them.

Therefore the Bible is the most recent book that speacks of Solomon, the man of the ancient times, and the most known man of the East part of the world. No man like Solomon is born in the world like Him, after.

But when Jesus was told about the magnificant Temple of Solomon, Jesus say to His followers, that He was someone greater than Solomon, and the people around were totally surprised; how can this happen, the asked Him. How can anyone can come to this world, bigger than Solomon, the only man capable to build the most fantastic Temple of God? It was unconcivable to think that, someone bigger than Solomon, could come again to the world.

Jesus, someone greater than Solomon
As the crowds increased, Jesus said, “This is a wicked generation. It asks for a sign, but none will be given it except the sign of Jonah. For as Jonah was a sign to the Ninevites, so also will the Son of Man be to this generation.  The Queen of the South will rise at the judgment with the people of this generation and condemn them, for she came from the ends of the earth to listen to Solomon’s wisdom; and now something greater than Solomon is here.  The men of Nineveh will stand up at the judgment with this generation and condemn it, for they repented at the preaching of Jonah;and now something greater than Jonah is here. Luke 11,29

Solomon Temple has always been a place of aggregation, where people could go to read or listen the Law of God and to enjoy together the beauty of God's promises. The Bible in the Gospel of John, in the New Testament tell us about Jesus in the Temple of Solomon, for the most important Jewish Feast.

There everybody from the Nations around Israel and from the Greek world, would join the jews from the diaspora living in the Eastern countries, and gather in the Temple of Solomon, like a ONE and UNITED PEOPLE.

At that time the Feast of Dedication took place at Jerusalem. It was winter, and Jesus was walking in the Temple, in the colonnade of Solomon. John 10,22

The Temple of Solomon was a place where the jews and the non-Jews would receive many miracles and healing; the Gospel of Jesus tell us that God's presence would perform wonderful miracles to man, and Jesus made sure that many could receive God's favor there:

"The blind and the lame came to him at the Temple, and he healed them". Matthew 21,14

The Temple of Solomon had an outer court, also called the "Court of the non- Jews, the Gentiles, who had free access to the Jewish Temple, after King Solomon pray to God that he could be gracious also to the visitors and the foreing that travel to seek God's face.

In the Book of the Chronicals of the event regarding the building of the Temple, King Solomon made sure that after he pray for the well bein of his people, God would take care also of the needs of all the non-Jewsish people, making the Temple of Solomon the House of Prayer for all people and all Nations.

King Solomon made the Temple for Jews and non -Jews alike and everybody could enter the Temple compound. The non-Jews had their own area and could not enter the Jewish area, nevertheless they had access to the Temple and to God's favor, as the Torah and the Bible tells us :

As for the foreigner who does not belong to your people Israel but has come from a distant land because of your great name and your mighty handand your outstretched arm—when they come and pray toward this temple, then hear from heaven, your dwelling place. Do whatever the foreignerasks of you, so that all the peoples of the earth may know your name and fear you, as do your own people Israel, and may know that this house I have built bears your Name. 2 Chronicles 6,32

"Leave out the court which is outside the temple and do not measure it, for it has been given to the Nations". Revelation 11,2

When God told the Angel to take a rod to measure the Temple, he confirmed that God's Temple had a part where the non-Jews would enter and where the Nations were allowed in. it's called the outer court of Solomon Temple. Therefore it's in God's perfect will that non- Jews have access to God's Temple not only in the past, but also in the future.

The Salomon Temple had many different areas, a big one for the non-jews and travellers, for the foreingers that wanted to pray to God, during the Jewish feast; and another for Jews only, and Jesus use to go into both areas, to teach and talk to people about God's Kindom.

The Gospel of Jesus in the New testament, tell us that many people use to gather around Him, and listen to His words.

Jesus entered the Temple courts, and there he was teaching; Matthew 21,22

But while in Solomon times, the Queen of the South, the Queen of Sheba came to Jerusalem to see King Solomon, to hear and see with her own eyes the splendor of the Temple, in Jesus times the world changed side, and people from the Greek world came, and wanted to see Him, the Man of God.

While Solomon attracted the East and the Neas East, Jesus had been given by God the Divine Mission to have the new Greek world coming to  Jerusalem, to see who was this New wise man.

The Western world must know that in modern times, like in ancient times, only from Jerusalem a light and a man of God, will came to give Divine Information to all man. Israel therefore becames again the center of the world, the only place to travel and go, to know God and  receive God's Divine blessing!

Now there were some Greeks among those who were going up to worship at the Jewish Feast; these then came to Philip, who was from Bethsaida of Galilee, and began to ask him, saying, "Sir, we wish to see Jesus." The Gospel of John 12,20

There have been 3 times in the history of humanity when people and Nations, Kings and Queens have made their way to Jerusalem; the first was when Solomon was the King of  Peace in Jerusalem and the Queen of Sheba, rappresenting all Estern King made her way to see how great God made Solomon.

The second time was when Jesus went to Jerusalem to let people know that another season was starting, and "something Bigger than Solomon was happening in Jerusalem, and the greek world made his way to the Temple of Jerusalem to see Jesus, and listen to His Wisdom and teaching, the Message of peace and the Way to God Divine Message.

The third and last will be when Jesus will come back as Messiah and King of Jerusalem, and the Kings of the East and the West must come to see, hear and listen to what God has to say to the all world. In this third occasion everyone will have to recognize that only in Jerusalem mankind will find a man that is wise and right as Solomon, the King of Israel. And once again people of every Nation will be driven toward Jerusalem and must bow down, to the man that from Jerusalem will teach the Way of the Lord.

Jesus of Nazaret came to prepare the Way of God and to tell mankind to make a Way for God's Law into this world; on His Way back to Jerusalem, whoever ignored Jesus invitation to follow the Way of God, will find himself without  choice. There is a King coming from Heaven to make sure that the powerfull will no longer rule over people with unjustice and unrightness, and everyone must obey to the King of king and to the Lord of the lords of this evil world. That day will be a day when all evil people will be silenced forever, and peace and Justice will flow like a river in the Earth.

The third Temple of Jerusalem will be the last one and it's coming from Heaven, and will stand forever; preparations are made already and it will not be too long before it will be a reality. There are many writings and many pictures concerning the beauty and the majesty of the new Temple, and for sure it would be the most amazing Temple of God that human eye has ever seen! The Prophet Ezekiel gave the details of every part of it, and it will not be too long, before all pieces of the the new Temple will be assembled for all man to see; now it's just a matter of years and we will be amazed of how God's glory canbe manifested in the midst of of His people. This is what Jesus revealed to the world in the Last and Holy Book of Revelation:

Then I saw “a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea.  I saw the Holy City, "the New Jerusalem", coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying:
“Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. He will wipe every tear from their eyes.

There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” Book of Revelation 21,1
